Getting a Deeper Understanding

K.L.E.O. Community Family Life Center is a non-profit organization and facility dedicated to strengthening families and providing a safe haven, through education, training, support and fun for people of all ages in the Chicagoland community. Their goal is to create an enhanced ability to navigate the world by providing the necessary tools, skills, and support needed for their participants to become a productive part of society. They are funded by Chicago Public Schools; Chicago Community Development Block Grant; State of Illinois; and Neighborhood Recovery Initiative.

K.L.E.O. is committed to helping families live healthy, productive lives in safe, stable, self- sustaining urban communities. They achieve their corporate objectives by working with residents and their community leaders to identify a consensus vision. Once that vision is identified, they help implement that strategy for the vision to be manifested. K.L.E.O. has three areas of focus. education, violence reduction and real-estate development. These three areas of focus allow K.L.E.O. to strategically meet the needs of the organization in general and the needs of the participants that they serve.

A Vision for Success

K.L.E.O. reached out to us to revamp their existing website in order to reflect their new direction in operations and to better highlight their accomplishments and work that they are doing in their community. Their goals were to provide information about their nonprofit and to showcase their commitment to improving the lives of individuals in their surrounding neighborhood located on the south side of Chicago.

Our process began with understanding and establishing a vision and goals for their new website. We had to fully access the content that they had and determine what new content they needed created. We were able to construct a mood and feeling for their website that would be able to effectively communicate to their site visitors who and what K.L.E.O. is about.

We spent time getting to know the youth that K.L.E.O. serves by documenting their after school programs and we were able to take portraits of children that regularly attend their programming. During our time at the family center, we were really able to get an understanding and admiration for the hard work that the staff and board directors put towards creating a positive environment and having a true impact.

We learned the importance it is to have a clear line of communication with the executive director and staff to reach our collective goals. We were able to establish an effective strategy and define steps that needed to be taken along with a timeline that was able to ensure a website launch that then could be utilized to market and promote their upcoming benefit gala.
